How to upgrade Slackel after Slackware Mass Rebuild

Post by djemos »

Slackel users can safely update their system to latest Slackware.
They can run as usual.

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get -u
sudo slapt-get --upgrade
For some reason diffutils package post installation failed so upgrade it with upgradepkg

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get -i -d diffutils
for 64 bit

Code: Select all

sudo upgradepkg --reinstall /var/slapt-get/slackware64/ap/diffutils-3.6-*.txz
or for 32bit

Code: Select all

sudo upgradepkg --reinstall /var/slapt-get/slackware/ap/diffutils-3.6-*.txz
To update the excluding packages

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get -i glibc glibc-i18n glibc-profile glibc-zoneinfo kernel-firmware
IMPORTANT!!! Do not use spkg to update aaa_base package. Use upgradepkg tool from slackware.

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get -i -d --reinstall aaa_base
for 64 bit

Code: Select all

sudo /bin/bash upgradepkg --reinstall /var/slapt-get/slackware64/a/aaa_base-14.2-*.txz
for 32 bit

Code: Select all

sudo /bin/bash upgradepkg --reinstall /var/slapt-get/slackware/a/aaa_base-14.2-*.txz
remove any stale .la files from the LD_LIBRARY_PATH:

Code: Select all

sudo rm /{,usr/}lib{,64}/*.la

After upgrading my 32bit slackel system in vmware, i got gpg signature error after running sudo slapt-get -u
Then i run

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get --add-keys
and this solved the problem.
